Egypt is bracing for anther day of protests, after opposition leaders were angered by President Mohammed Morsi televised speech. Mr Morsi, under fire for trying to grab new powers, had invited all major political factions to a meeting tomorrow. But an opposition spokesman said the president had missed a historic chance for compromise. Late last night, the Cairo offices of the Muslim Brotherhood were attacked. Opposition supporters ransacked the Islamist movement’s headquarters and set it on fire. Having promised to be a president for all, Mursi is now accused of putting the interests of his group, the Muslim Brotherhood, after Morsi issued a decree on 22 November stripping the judiciary of any power to challenge his decisions. Four of Mr Morsi’s advisers resigned on Wednesday. Three others did so last week and a further resignation happened yesterday.

And on a positive note, Washington state keeps rocking on. Hundreds of same-sex couples across Washington state started picking up marriage licenses Thursday as a voter-approved law legalizing gay marriage took effect. 489 marriage licenses were issued yesterday, mostly to same-sex couples, breaking a previous daily record of 212. 85-year-old Pete-e Petersen, and her 77-year-old partner Jane Abbott Lighty, who have been together 35 years, were the first to get a license and plan to get married on Sunday, which is the earliest they CAN get married, because the state has a three-day waiting period. Same-sex couples who previously were married in another state that allows gay marriage, like Massachusetts and New York, will not have to get remarried in Washington state. Their marriages became valid in Washington yesterday, when the law took effect.

It is Friday and to honor this beautiful initiation of the weekend, here some extra super random news, I couldn’t help but report on. If you are tired of the same old cheap coffee every morning you may want to consider traveling to Northern Thailand, where a herd of 20 elephants, is pooping out some of the world’s most expensive coffee. Yes you heard right – I did say pooping out. Earthy in flavor and smooth on the palate, the exotic new brew is made from beans, eaten by Thai elephants and plucked a day later from their poop. Apparently, a gut reaction inside the elephant creates the coffee’s unique taste. Whether the thought of drinking this specialty brew makes you sick or excited, it doesn’t change the fact that, at $500 per pound, it’s among the world’s most expensive coffee. For now, only the wealthy or well-traveled have access to this exclusive cup of coffee, which is called Black Ivory Coffee. It was launched last month at a few luxury hotels in remote corners of the world – first in northern Thailand, then the Maldives and now Abu Dhabi – with the small price tag of about $50 a serving.
