If you don’t enjoy the masses of people at stores doing their last minute X-mas gift shopping, then you may ask yourself who needs black friday when you can avoid all that and go for cyber Monday instead. Cyber Monday, was coined as a term in 2005 by a shopping trade group, that noticed online sales spiked on the Monday following Thanksgiving, and is the next in a series of days that stores are counting on to jumpstart the holiday shopping season. It’s estimated that this year’s Cyber Monday will be the biggest online shopping day of the year for the third year in a row, and that Americans are expected to spend $1.5 billion, up 20 percent from last year on Cyber Monday, as retailers have ramped up their deals to get shoppers to click on their websites. Amazon is starting it’s deal night tonight at midnight and if offering as much as 60% off on electronic goods! So get out your iPads and laptops and happy clicking to you!

French beauty and skin-care giant L’Oréal SA said Monday it has agreed to buy privately owned makeup company Urban Decay Cosmetics, adding another footprint in the fast-growing market for higher-end makeup. L’Oreal didn’t disclose financial details, but rumour has it, that the French company is paying between $300 million and $400 million for Urban Decay, which is currently owned by private-equity firm Castanea Partners. L’Oréal’s luxury division has boosted the company’s growth in recent months, offsetting slower business in the mass-cosmetics market, amid strong demand for prestigious labels particularly in emerging markets. To grow the division, the company is investing in its high-end and specialist products, buying last year Pacific Bioscience Laboratories, the maker of Clarisonic sonic facial brush. L’Oreal said the market for specialist brands represents 44% of the luxury makeup market in the U.S. and Urban Decay Cosmetics caught the beauty industry’s attention in the 1990s with its edgy packaging and products with names like “Perversion” and “Stray Dog.”

With thanksgiving behind us, it is now all eyes on x-mas! If you have been eating and drinking this past weekend until your bellies pop, as I had suggested, you now don’t have much time to recover before the X-mas feeding frenzy begins. So I decided to give you a couple of dietary tips, designed to help you survive the holiday times without turning into a pumpkin. First of all I really recommend the separation diet. It magically allows you to eat whatever you want and how ever much you want, but the catch is that 1) you can only eat carbohydrates with other carbohydrates — NEVER with proteins and fats and 2) Eat proteins and fats together with no carbohydrates. (The only carbs that are acceptable to consume with proteins and fats are greens and non-starchy vegetables or low-fat carbohydrates.) So basically juicy steak with vegetables and no potatoes, or sweet potatoes instead! And pasta without meat! It definitely works for me!
