The Egyptian people have spoken. Egypt’s first democratically elected president is Mohammed Mursi, the Muslim Brotherhood candidate, who defeated ex Prime Minister Ahmed Shafiq. At this moment the military is still holding control over most of the president’s powers, and it will be Mr Mursi’s job to build a new parliament. The big question now, is who will he elect as his Prime Minister. Rumour has it Mr Mursi is in tals with Peace Prize Nobel winner Mohammed ElBareidi, which would definitely provide some reassurance to the non-Islamist population of Egypt. It is the first step to a functioning democracy in Egypt, but is it the right one? According to an interview that was published by Iran’s semi official Fars News agency, Mr Mursi wants to rethink the peace treaty with Israel, and re-ignite its relationship with Iran. Let’s hope this revolution is indeed the Arab spring and not an Islamist autumn followed by a cold winter…
The Sandusky trial has found its end in Jerry Sandusky’s conviction on 45 of 48 child sex abuse charges last Friday. He now faces a potential of 400 years in prison, for molesting 10 boys over a period of 15 years. It took the jury 21 hours to deliberate and issue their final judgment, based on numerous eye witness accounts. To redeem his image, Sandusky agreed to give an interview to NBC in November, which turned into a public relations disaster, as he admitted to horseplay and showering with young boys. I hope the victims manage to find some peace with this verdict.
Facebook has quietly rolled out an app that allows you to see your facebook friends, that are currently in your vicinity. The feature is called Find Friends nearby. So I suggest one you better quickly find out how to use this app, so that you know when your so called friends can see you, and two, start deleting those ex boyfriends and girl friends that might be holding a grudge!
It was an emotional match for England versus Italy, but in the end England remained heart broken, seeing their team exit the eurocup. Italy is through to play against Germany next, which should be a very exciting game, and Spain will be facing Portugal, which also going to be a very heated game. My guess is, we will be seeing Germany versus Spain in the final but may the better team win!!!
