Children are Suffering
The government of Serbia is vigorously working to improve the lives of its citizens. However, tens of thousands of people–especially orphans, infants, children and people with disabilities–are suffering. There is a desperate need for medical equipment and other supplies.
Tragically, the country is also having to address a medical crisis. In all of Europe, it has one of the highest rates of both infant mortality and breast cancer.
Lifeline New York works with the HRH Crown Princess Katherine Foundation, which was established in Belgrade in 2001, to improve the health and welfare of all those in need in Serbia. Over the years, Lifeline has provided items such as neonatal ultrasound machines, mobile mammography unit, radiology training of medical staff, hospital beds with mattresses for children’s wards at hospitals, devices for children with impaired hearing and computers for orphans.
