    Today in the News:
    – TSA screeners allow fed agent with fake bomb to pass through security at Newark Airport
    – China warns against Korea escalation
    – and Processed meat leads to ‘early death’

An undercover TSA inspector with an improvised explosive device stuffed in his pants got past two security screenings at Newark Airport — including a pat-down — and was cleared to get on board a commercial flight. The breach took place, when the Transportation Security Administration’s special operations team — the agency’s version of internal affairs — staged a mock intrusion at the airport. The mock “bomber” was part of the four-person “Red Team” that posed as ticketed passengers and filed through the B1 checkpoint of Terminal B — home of American Airlines, JetBlue and Delta. Despite this security disaster, the TSA this week declared it would soon allow travelers to carry non-locking knives up to 2.36 inches in length and a half-inch width onto airplanes. Pleaase somebody introduce Newark to Implant Sciences’ technology! They QS-H150 would have sniffed out that underwear bomb (no pun intended) immediately!

China has appealed for calm on the Korean peninsula, hours after North Korea said it had scrapped all peace pacts with the South and threatened pre-emptive nuclear strikes. China, the North’s only major ally, said all sides should continue to talk and avoid “further escalation”. Pyongyang has reacted angrily to another round of sanctions imposed by the UN over its recent nuclear test. The sanctions restrict luxury goods imports and banking activities. The North also claimed it had a right to launch a pre-emptive nuclear strike against its enemies. The threat drew an angry response from the South’s defense ministry spokesman Kim Min-seok, who said that the North would become “extinct from the Earth by the will of mankind” if it took such an action. I dunno about you guys but I personally don like instability – especially when one of the parties happens to have nukes in its arsenal. Can somebody please stop this nonsense?

I knew it!! Sausages, ham, bacon and other processed meats appear to increase the risk of dying young, a study of half a million people across Europe suggests. It concluded diets high in processed meats were linked to cardiovascular disease, cancer and early deaths. If everyone in the study had consumed no more than 20g of processed meat a day then 3% of the premature deaths could have been prevented. Processed meat refers to meat that has been preserved by smoking, curing, salting or adding preservatives. Examples include ham, bacon, pastrami and salami, as well as hot dogs and some sausages. Hamburgers and minced meats only count as processed meat if they have been preserved with salt or chemical additives. So basically make your own homemade burgers from fresh minced meat instead of the frozen stuff. And if you want ham buy a piggy and then…keep it as a pet cause you would be able to touch this baby anyways.
