    Today in the News:
    – Justice Department is set to respond to states that have legalized marijuana
    – China says U.S. routinely hacks Defense Ministry websites
    – ‘Tooth Fairy’ Average Gift is $2.42 a Tooth

Colorado and Washington state legalized the recreational use of marijuana in 2012, and both stares are concerned about how the federal government planned to respond. The new laws set the stage for what could be a sticky conflict between the state and federal government. Although the drug is now legal under state law, it is still banned under the federal Controlled Substances Act. The states are still waiting for an answer from the feds. Now how cool would it be if the Feds just disclaimed that legalizing marihuana in the entire US was in the plans…oh what the heck the entire world! I mean if you think about it, not only would everyones economies suddenly soar, but the notion of real peace would also suddenly be possible! You know I’m right.

China fights back! According to Chinese authorities, two major Chinese military websites, including that of the Defense Ministry, were subject to about 144,000 hacking attacks a month last year, almost two-thirds of which came from the United States. This month a U.S. computer security company said that a secretive Chinese military unit was likely behind a series of hacking attacks mostly targeting the United States, setting off a war of words between Washington and Beijing. China denied the allegations and said it was the victim. The hacking dispute adds to diplomatic tension between China and the United States, already strained by Chinese suspicion about Washington’s “pivot” back to Asia and arguments over issues from trade to human rights.

Have you ever wodnered how much money the tooth fairy gives out on average? No? well here you go anyways… Parents are reporting that they are becoming more generous playing Tooth Fairy, with the average tooth gift at $2.42 in 2012, up from $2.10 in 2011. Wow I wish I had known that as a kid, but I grew up in the Soviet Union and there the Tooth Fairy didn’t think of coming to visit for some reason. Maybe I should hit up my parents for some tooth money – with interest!
