Today on CPreports:
– David Cameron promises Britons they will have a choice in whether to exit the EU or not
– Nicolas Sarkozy plans ‘to dodge new 75% French tax rate
– A Mars Crater Held Ancient Lake & Possibly Life
In a quite bold statement the British Prime Minister David Cameron vowed to give Britons the choice of whether they want to stay in the EU or leave. Mr Cameron said “disillusionment” with the EU was “at an all time high” and “simply asking the British people to carry on accepting a European settlement, over which they have had little choice” was likely to accelerate calls for the UK to leave. Basically it looks like Cameron wants to pressure the EU leaders into changing some existing relationship provisions, which are a bit bogus, cause don’t forget election day is coming up in Britain, and both Germany and France have retaliated by saying there shall be no cherry picking with the EU membership. And there goes the British pound down the hill, ever so slightly.
So we have all heard of the exorbitant tax of 75% that has recently been imposed on the rich and beautiful in France. Already France lost its famed actor Gerard Depardio who decided to evade that tax by giving up his French passport and accept his new identity as Russian citizen Gerard Depardiot. Now Nicolas Sarkozy is following suit and is planing to emmigrate to the UK with wife Carla and setting up £1bn private equity fund’. The 57-year-old, who was ousted from office last June, has amassed a fortune from £150,000-an-hour public speaking engagements and is now said to be trying to raise capital from investors. If the move goes ahead, the controversial Frenchman will become the latest to escape a potential top tax rate of 75 per cent in his home country. But there is also the slight issue of the former president currently being under investigation for corruption in France, and if he does cross the Channel there will probably be a bit of outrage.
New photos of a huge crater on Mars suggest water may lurk in crevices under the planet’s surface, hinting that life might have once lived there, and raising the possibility that it may live there still, researchers say. Future research looking into the chances of life on Mars could shed light on the origins of life on Earth, scientists added. The discovery came from a study of images by NASA’s powerful Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter that revealed new evidence of a wet underground environment on the Red Planet. The images focused on the giant McLaughlin Crater, which is about 57 miles wide and so deep that underground water appears to have flowed into the crater at some point in the distant past. I dunno about you guys but I am still waiting for my alien encounter.
