Washington rocks! Yeah baby!! The US state of Washington has just legalized possession of marijuana, a month after voters opted for decriminalisation. As of midnight last night, anyone aged 21 and over is allowed to carry up to 1oz of cannabis, but smoking it in public will still be illegal. It has been legal for medical use in the state since 1998. A law legalising gay marriage also came into effect in Washington state today, and the first same-sex weddings are expected on Sunday. Also on Unfortunately marijuana, still remains illegal under US federal law, so there will be nowhere to purchase marijuana legally in Washington for at least another year. It also remains unclear how federal law enforcement agencies will deal with liberalisation of drug laws in Washington and – eventually – Colorado. Under Federal law the drug remains in the same category as cocaine, heroin and methamphetamine, and only Congress could change that designation. I think it’s time to start a petition folks!

Apple’s stock is dropping and is already below $530 a share, losing $35 billion of its value, the biggest loss in the last 4 years. So what do you do if your name is Tim Cook and you hapen to be the CEO of Apple? You go on a media frenzy and start doing your work! And so in various interviews Cook tells us, that Apple plans to spend more than $100 million next year on building Mac computers in the U.S., shifting a small portion of manufacturing away from China, the country that has handled assembly of its products for years. Apple, which until the late 1990s made and assembled many products in the U.S., moved manufacturing to Asia to take advantage of the region’s lower labor costs. The planned investment makes up a sliver of Apple’s $121.3 billion in cash, and probably won’t meaningfully affect profit margins. There are also rumours that Apple might be eyes our TV Sets next! Now that I would love to get a glimpse of!

It’s Facebook versus Twitter and caught in the middle is Instagram. Facebook’s recently acquired photo-sharing service Instagram removed a key element of its integration with Twitter, pointing towards a deepening rift between two of the Web’s dominant social media companies. Instagram turned off support for Twitter “cards”, to drive Twitter users to Instagram’s own website. Twitter “cards” is a feature that allows multimedia content like YouTube videos and Instagram photos to be embedded and viewed directly within a Twitter message, and earlier this week, Twitter’s users began to complain in public messages, that Instagram photos weren’t displaying properly on Twitter. Photos is one of the most popular features on both Facebook and Twitter, and Instagram’s meteoric rise in recent years has further proved how picture-sharing has become a key element in the battle for social Internet supremacy. But would I go to Instagram’s website? What do your guys out there think?
