Yesterday, Google released its quarterly earnings, which fell short of Wall Street’s expectations, after its core advertising business slowed, stunning investors accustomed to consistently rapid growth from the Internet giant and eliminating more than 9 percent of its market value. The disappointing numbers, came hours ahead of schedule due to a glitch. Google blamed the misfire on an unauthorized filing by its financial printers, RR Donnelley & Sons Co, and later confirmed the numbers’ accuracy. After a brief trading halt, shares of Google, the world’s No. 1 Internet search engine, closed down 8 percent at $695 in Thursday’s regular trading session. Many analysts believe the premature results release caused confusion and fueled Google’s stock price decline, were wondering how this will effect google search results for RR Donnelley, I wouldn’t expect very good SEO after that mishap.

Newsweek, the venerable U.S. weekly magazine, will publish its final print edition on Dec. 31 this year and will move to an all-digital format early next year. The all-digital publication will be called Newsweek Global and will be a single, worldwide edition. It will be subscription-based and available on the on all internet enabled devices including tablets and smartphones, with some content available on the Daily Beast web site. Obviously this change will result in several cutback in Newsweek staff. We predict that many print publications will soon follow suit as they compete to cut costs and hold on to readers in a digital world.
