While Apple is marking a record sale this weekend, with 5 million iPhone 5 devices sold in three days after it became available in stores, one of the Apple’s assembly sites Foxconn Technology Group, is having major issues, after 2,000 workers got into a huge fight at a company dormitory. Goodness, so the workers sleep at the factory they work? Sounds a bit like prison to me. Foxconn said the trouble started with a personal row that blew up into a fight. But some people posting messages on a Twitter like site, said that four or five security guards beat a worker almost to death, which caused the massive clash. This unrest is the latest in a string of incidents at plants run by Foxconn, the world’s largest contract maker of electronic goods. Drawing attention as a supplier and assembler for Apple products, the company has faced accusations of poor conditions and mistreatment of workers at its operations in China, where it employs about 1 million workers. So much to outsourcing.

The lead actress of the much talked about anti-Islam movie, that has caused violent protests across the Muslim world, plans to drop her suit and file a new case in federal court over copyright claims. Cindy Lee Garcia, who appeared in the “Innocence of Muslims,” filed a lawsuit last week in a state court in Los Angeles against Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, the California man behind the movie, who is in hiding, claiming she was duped into playing a role and her life has been put at risk as a result. The film generated a massive violence outbreak across the Muslim world during the anniversary of the September 11, 2001 and days thereafter. The violence included an attack on U.S. embassy in Benghazi in which the U.S. ambassador to Libya and three other Americans were killed. U.S. and other foreign embassies were also stormed by furious Muslims in cities in Asia, Africa and the Middle East. On Friday, 15 people were killed during protests in Pakistan, and over the weekend a Pakistan government minister offered $100,000 to anyone who kills the movie’s maker. Goodness gracious.what an unnecessary mess.I do understand the actress for being scared for her life, but in all fairness and as sad as it is.the Muslim world’s reaction to this piece of crap film work, does speak volumes for itself.

And speaking of actresses and terror. The Drama Series Homeland has cleared out the awards at this years’ Emmys! British actor Damian Lewis has won an Emmy for best actor, for his performance in the Homeland series and Claire Dane received the best actress prize in the series. Homeland also won outstanding drama, meaning that Mad Men failed to set a record by winning its fifth best drama award. I thought Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones would have been great contenders for best drama too.but at least Aaron Paul got his award for best supporting actor in the Drama series. Best comedy series award went to Modern Family of course!
