Can it really be? Did Draghi finally make a concrete and factual statement? According to media headlines this morning, Mario Draghi, president of the European Central Bank, has finally unveiled details of a new bond-buying plan, aimed at easing the eurozone’s debt crisis. He said the scheme would provide a “fully effective backstop” and re-iterated once again, that the euro was “irreversible”. Hallelujuah! The benchmark eurozone interest rate remained unchanged at 0.75%. The ECB expects the eurozone economy to shrink by 0.4% in 2012 and grow by 0.5% in 2013, with inflation rising to 2.6%. So on one hand markets should breathe a sigh of relief, but some critics believe, it may be the wrong decision to hook euro zone member states on central bank aid, which could stop them from reforming their economies sufficiently. But the majority of the 23 ECB council members support the plan. And all we can do is wait and see and place our bets correctly.

Former US President Bill Clinton has delivered a prime-time speech of support of Barack Obama, nominating the president for a second term in the White House. His 50-minute speech at the Democratic convention in Charlotte, North Carolina, was strongly critical of Republican economic plans. He launched a full-throated defense of Mr Obama’s policies, saying, that contrary to common republican belief, his economic policies were working. Bill Clinton’s speech is being seen as the high point of a revitalised relationship between the two presidents and as an attempt to boost Mr Obama’s appeal with white working-class voters. What do you guys out there think? Is this strategy working? Who will you be voting for and why? Post your comments!

Oh for crying out loud NOKIA – you are really not making it easy on your fans and investors. Why would you put out a fake add? Common you can do better than that! Nokia was forced to apologise after it emerged that an advert, featuring video footage which appeared to have been filmed with its new flagship smartphone, had in fact been created using different equipment. The Verge tech site revealed the issue after it noticed a window reflection revealed a cameraman holding what appeared to be an SLR camera. Investors had already shown doubts about whether the Windows Phone 8 handset could revive the Finnish company’s fortunes, sending its shares nearly 8% lower yesterday and then this disaster. In today’s trade the stock fell a further 6%. Fine you decided to cheat a little, but why on earth would you make those pretty bike riders pass by a window in which we can see the reflection of the camera man. Why? I’m telling ya it’s all about not getting caught! It really shouldn’t be such a difficult concept to grasp.
