Walgreen decided to buy into 45% of health and beauty group Alliance Boots GmbH for $6.7 billion, in an attempt to get a piece of the growing and lucrative global health market. Boots is pretty much the British equivalent of Duane Reade and Walgreens combined – why combined? Because in Britain Boots is all there is. However Alliance Boots is a huge conglomerate, which is represented in more than 25 countries and employs more than 116,000 people. Hailed as potentially one of the most important moves in European retail history, this acquisition may be a game changing move for Walgreens in its aspiration to achieve a global reach.

Compared to the iPad, Windows Surface tablets are slightly heavier but the screens are bigger. Microsoft is apparently targeting the high end business world, going head to head with Apple, vying for our attention. Let the race begin!
Talking about computer tablets – Scary news are coming from the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, that claims that we have become slaves to our smart phones, tablets and computers. So? Jokes aside, in an online survey they found out, that most people continue working on their devices, when on their way home, and that we should all learn how to switch off and leave work at home. Working too much on devices may potentially lead to posture problems, that cause back and neck aches. It could also lead to stress related illness. So basically leave your work at the office and use your smart phones etc in emergencies only – like facebook status updates and catching up on episodes of the Daily Show.
