The Greek people have spoken, but only by a narrow margin have they decided, to vote for the party, that supports the bailout. Close second came the party that did not want the bailout. Talks on forming a pro-bailout coalition with the winning, Conservative New Democracy party, are now under way. It is mainly projected that the socialist party Pasok, will be joining the New Democracy party, in a ruling coalition. Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel, expects Greece to fulfill its previously imposed conditions, to take advantage of the bailout. Within the next three days a decision on a Greek coalition, will have to be made, and the stock markets are rejoicing, with Greek stocks climbing up 6% in early trading, and the Euro relaxed a bit too. The G-20 are currently meeting in Mexico to discuss further steps, on how to stifle crisis and stop Europe from contaminating global markets.
Microsoft seems to have been serious, when they threatened to release a tablet computer of its own, to compete directly with its main rival Apple. Apparently today is the day, when we might get a glimpse of Microsoft’s first, in house designed computer creation, in 37 years. This could potentially be a huge turning point for the company. But it is also a risky venture, as Microsoft’s success so far, was firmly rooted, in having hardware partners, to sell its software to – with the launch of an in house designed hardware, this could lead to direct competition between Microsoft and their existing partners. The Microsoft tablet will be operating Windows 8 and I am definitely curious.
It is official, the US is now in the possession of the world’s fastest computer. IBM’s Sequoia has overtaken Japan and China, as the fastest super computer, and will be used to perform simulations for aging nuclear weapons, replacing real life underground tests. To put Sequoia’s capabilities in perspective, she is capable (and yes I am pretty sure it’s a she) to calculate in one hour, what would normally take 6.7 billion people using a calculator, 320 years to calculate, if they were at it without breaks. The US now has 3 supercomputers at its disposal, whereas Germany and China have two of those each. I know it’s probably completely unrelated, but are you still wondering who created the Flame virus?
